Experience HELGOLAND | Photography trip | 14. – 20.6.2026

The high seas island of Heligoland offers nature photographers interesting photo opportunities at any time of year. The Lummenfelsen nature reserve and bird sanctuary is the only breeding site in Germany for seabirds such as the northern gannet, guillemot and black-legged kittiwake, as well as the rare fulmar and razorbill. The behavior of the breeding colony can be easily observed and photographed, especially in spring.

On the offshore dune offers further good photo opportunities. This is the resting place for harbor seals and grey seals as well as the breeding grounds of numerous wading birds and gulls

We will show you the hotspots and give you tips so that you can take home the best possible photos! During our visit in June, some gannet eggs may already have hatched and we have a good chance of photographing the nests with young birds.

This workshop is aimed at beginners and advanced users alike.

You will need a digital camera, lenses from wide-angle to telephoto (at least 300mm focal length – the more the better). Laptop, bean bag, tripod and photo trolley are recommended, but not absolutely necessary.

Sturdy shoes, weatherproof clothing and rain protection for yourself and your camera, just in case.

As Heligoland is a car-free zone, we will walk to our photo destinations. But don’t worry, the routes are manageable and can be walked comfortably. Hikes of 1 – 3 km are to be expected!

It is possible to form car pools. Please address inquiries to Johnny Krüger.
